Underage Drinking

The "Talk. They Hear You." Underage Drinking Prevention National Media Campaign empowers parents and caregivers to talk with children early about alcohol and other drug use.

The “Talk. They Hear You.”® campaign’s goal is to provide parents and caregivers with the resources they need to address the issue of alcohol and other drugs with children under the age of 21. The campaign has historically equipped parents with the knowledge and skills to increase actions that reduce and prevent underage drinking. Recently, it has expanded its messaging to include other substances such as marijuana and prescription drugs. The campaign now offers resources to help parents talk to children of all ages about alcohol and other drugs.

Vaping/E-Cigarettes

Talking to your kids about the dangers of vaping can feel awkward. But the reality is, vaping can cause irreversible lung damage.

You can play a significant role in protecting your child from the dangers of vaping and nicotine dependence. Maintain an open line of communication with your kid, and use the tips and suggestions at TalkAboutVaping.org as a framework for having a productive conversation.

Teachers and Schools

Teachers, administrators, student assistance professionals, and other school staff members work hard every day to prepare students for future success. Use of alcohol and other drugs, such as marijuana or opioids, can seriously undermine a child’s academic success and life goals.

Learn more about the role of student assistance professionals and the ways educators can share prevention messages with their students’ parents and caregivers.
